Old Worcester Mental Hospital:
Story: Served as a mental institution from 1877 to 1991. This hospital by dispute, resembled a prison and was irrected
at a monumental cost, to help the mentally ill. The building was closed soon after a fire in 1991, where a few patients died.
You can hear moans, groans and screams, see people in the windows, and get a very bad feeling.
My Findings: There is something there. Although the windows are now boarded up (partially due to overwhelming calls reguarding
trespassers and no one was there.) The buildings are in rought shape, the floors will give out under a persons weight. However,
with permission you can go up to the fence. The area is completely fenced in, and there is no entrance nor exit. You can
see all the buildings and the large courtyard, very intimidating. Two things that can get your attention are the rounds rooms
(round structures they put the ill in to make them avoid hiding in corners) and the clock tower on the main structure. When
I went up there, I saw nothing, however, did hear a few moans but nothing as clear as day. I only spent a fraction of a minute
there however, and I had to go, law enforcement was on its way. It is a creepy place and wish that I could go into it, however,
there are few pictures from inside, they will have to suffice.
UPDATE: I found out through some slight research that this hospital was created with about a dozen others in the same fassion
and same purpose. Its part of a line of buildings called the "Kirkbridge buildings" and they are all very interesting
places. Sadly, a few are up for demolition, and I do with to visit a few others before their time is up.
FOLLOW UP: Well, I honestly want to return to the hospital, however, due to law enforcment and other factors, I might not
be able to. Another detering factor is all I can do is stand aside the fence and look in.
